Application of Tile Cross
The benefits of using Sahand Shimi Tile Cross include the following:
Creating joints of desired and uniform width between tiles
Reducing tiling time
Preventing tiles from shifting before the mortar dries
Increasing accuracy and reliability in tiling
Calculating the number of tile crosses
The number of crosses required for tiling depends on the dimensions of the tiles and ceramics and the total area. The minimum number of crosses required is equal to the number of joints between the tiles, and for larger tiles, more crosses are used.
How to use the tile cross
First, tile adhesive or mortar is applied to the surface with a notched trowel.
The tile is placed on the surface and the clips are installed at the edges of the tile.
Then the next tile is installed next to the first tile and by slightly moving the second tile, the crosses are placed to create the same and desired distance between the joints between the two tiles and at the point where 4 tiles meet (which is properly called a four-joint).
Then the wedge is manually placed in the clips and tightened with maximum pressure using pliers to level the surface of the tiles.
After the mortar or adhesive sets, the clips are broken using a rubber hammer or by kicking and the wedges are released.
The crosses inside the joints are removed after this stage.
If it is not possible to remove the crosses at the four-joint points, it is necessary to direct them inward with pressure so that there is enough space to apply the jointing paste between the tiles.
