Does concrete adhesive have sealing properties?

Since adding Sahand Shimi concrete adhesive to the concrete mortar mixture has a significant effect on reducing water penetration, many believe that adding concrete adhesive alone is sufficient for sealing. But in fact, concrete adhesive cannot be introduced as a product for 100% concrete sealing.

This polymer resin, with its formulation, has a significant effect on increasing the resistance of concrete to water penetration and diffusion, but for complete sealing, we recommend using Sahand Shimi two-component sealant, which is applied in two thin layers on the surface and is impermeable to water.

The volume of concrete adhesive used depends greatly on its expected use and performance. Typically, the amount of this product used is 5 to 20 percent of the weight of cement in the mortar. The higher the amount of concrete adhesive used in the mentioned range, the more effective it will be in reducing moisture and water penetration, and the concrete will be more resistant to moisture.

How to prepare concrete adhesive

Add the required amount of Sahand Shimi concrete adhesive to the mixer containing the mortar mixture and continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is achieved.

It is important to note that concrete adhesive replaces part of the water used in the mortar mixing plan; therefore, the volume of water must be reduced in the calculations and the calculated amount of concrete adhesive replaced.

Surface conditions for the work

Initially, the surface must be free of any contamination, dust, paint, and grease. Since concrete adhesive is soluble in water, it is necessary to avoid water accumulation on the surface before applying the resulting mortar. However, this product will not dissolve in water at all after drying.

Mixing concrete adhesive with water and diluting it before adding it to the mortar will disrupt the formulation and reduce the quality and performance of the concrete adhesive. However, after the concrete dries, its proximity to water will not cause the concrete adhesive to dissolve and reduce its quality.

Application temperature and workability time

The best application temperature for Sahand Shimi concrete adhesive is between +10 and +30 degrees Celsius.

Drying time

Adding Sahand Shimi concrete adhesive to the mortar will slightly reduce the drying time of the mortar.

Expiration date and storage conditions

Sahand Shimi concrete adhesive can be used for up to one year after production if stored in its packaging and away from direct sunlight and frost cycles.
