Introducing Biza Plus Sahand Shimi Tile Adhesive
Biza Plus Sahand Shimi Tile Adhesive is used to install all porcelain tiles and ceramics on the floors and walls of rooms, halls, bathrooms, lobbies and corridors. This product is easy to prepare, quick to apply, has strong adhesion and high durability and is recommended for installing ceramics up to 60 x 120 cm in size.
Biza Plus Sahand Shimi Tile Adhesive has the Iranian National Standard License and quality approval from the Research Center of the Ministry of Roads, Housing and Urban Development. With its powerful formulation, this product has the ability to install all types of tiles, mosaics and ordinary, glass and porcelain ceramics and allows tiling on all vertical and horizontal interior surfaces of floors and walls on all types of concrete, cement and plaster surfaces.
What is porcelain ceramic?
Porcelain is a type of ceramic that absorbs very little water (less than 0.5 percent). Since cement-sand mortar or grout needs to penetrate the ceramic texture to create adhesion, it will not be very effective against porcelain ceramics and will not practically establish a strong connection between them.
On the other hand, porcelain ceramics have a more compact structure than ordinary ceramics, which increases their weight. These two factors (low water absorption and high weight) mean that for installing porcelain tiles, you need stronger materials such as Biza Plus tile adhesive instead of cement-sand mortar or grout.
Tile adhesive vs. cement-sand mortar
Sahand Shimi’s Biza Plus tile adhesive is actually an engineered cement-based mortar. What is done in traditional methods is to make a mortar from a combination of sand, cement, gravel, etc. manually. The efficiency of this method depends greatly on the accuracy, experience, and performance of the workers, and the possibility of a decrease in the quality of the mortar with changes in the proportions of its ingredients will be very high.
But in this product, the materials are pre-mixed with precise and tested proportions and have better properties with polymer additives. These correct proportions of cement, minerals and polymers have produced a flexible adhesive with high adhesive strength and standard setting time, which has properties far higher than cement-sand mortar and much greater ease and speed of implementation.
In addition, due to the very thin thickness of tile adhesive compared to cement-sand mortar, the thickness of the walls of the structure is reduced, and as a result, you will have a larger interior space and ultimately the weight of the structure will be less.
Applications of Biza Plus Tile Adhesive
In some situations, cement-sand mortar cannot be used to install tiles and ceramics, and in these cases, Biza Plus tile adhesive is used for tiling:
Installing porcelain ceramics
Installing tiles on tiles
Installing tiles on surfaces that do not absorb water (such as Sahand Shimi’s two-component sealant, on which tiling is only possible with tile adhesive modified with polymer materials)
The powder composition of Biza Plus tile adhesive is ready and can be used by adding only the appropriate amount of water. For this reason, it has a high speed of preparation and application and saves a lot of money and time in tiling.
The polymer additives in the formulation of this product, in addition to the high adhesive strength that it creates for connecting ceramics and the surface, make this cement-based composition flexible. Due to this feature, ceramics installed with this cement-based powder adhesive will have excellent resistance to structural stresses and building settlements.
Also, due to the polymer additives in the composition of this adhesive, it has good resistance to moisture penetration, which also allows its use in humid environments such as bathrooms and toilets.
Biza Plus Tile Adhesive for Non-Porcelain (Regular) Tiles
Sahand Shimi Biza Plus Tile Adhesive is used for installing all types of tiles and ceramics.
To date, the quality and strength of this product has been approved by many professional tilers, builders, and contractors and is being used in their various projects throughout the country.
Using Biza Plus Tile Adhesive Outdoors
Sahand Shimi Biza Plus Tile Adhesive is a powerful adhesive that has acceptable performance in outdoor environments with different weather conditions, but in general, using this adhesive for indoor spaces is recommended.
If you intend to use Biza Plus tile adhesive outdoors, we recommend using Biza Plus Sahand Shimi latex instead of one-third of the water in combination with Biza Plus powder tile adhesive. For example, for outdoor use, for every 3 20-kilogram bags of Biza Plus tile adhesive (totaling 60 kilograms), you should mix one 5-kilogram gallon of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi latex with 10 liters of water and use it to prepare tile adhesive.
Installing large-sized ceramics (slabs) with Biza Plus tile adhesive
The adhesive strength and strength of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi tile adhesive, especially when applied to a construction primer, are sufficient for installing many large-sized slabs.
Installing tiles on tiles with Biza Plus tile adhesive
Biza Plus Sahand Shimi tile adhesive is an ideal option for installing new tiles on old tiles without having to destroy them. However, for the best results, it is necessary to first roughen the surface of the old tiles with a chisel or a milling cutter and then install the new tiles on them with Biza Plus tile adhesive.
Calculating the amount of Biza Plus tile adhesive required
The volume of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi tile adhesive used depends greatly on the surface on which the tiling is being done. For smooth cement surfaces, each 20 kg bag of this product is sufficient for tiling an area of about 3 to 5 square meters.
The presence of any unevenness, unevenness, protrusions or depressions in the underlying surface It will increase the consumption of Biza Plus tile adhesive per square meter. To calculate the amount of Biza Plus tile adhesive you need, you can use the calculator on this page or the calculator page.
How to prepare Biza Plus tile adhesive
Mix each 20 kg bag of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi adhesive with about 5 liters of water using an electric mixer (4 to 1 weight ratio). To do this, slowly add the powder to the water while stirring and continue mixing until you reach a uniform and homogeneous mortar. Then, give the mortar a rest for 5 minutes and then mix again a little. Now your tile adhesive is ready to use.
Surface conditions
It is strongly recommended that the back of the tile and the surface on which Biza Plus tile adhesive is applied be as free as possible from any dirt, dust, paint and grease. The presence of dirt on the surface prevents the tile adhesive from sticking and the tiles from loosening and separating from the surface.
Using a primer
The best way to prepare a surface before applying tile adhesive is to coat it with a layer of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi primer. According to measurements, the strength of tile adhesive when applied with a primer is approximately twice that of tile adhesive applied directly to the surface without a primer.
Using a primer significantly increases the adhesion between surfaces and prevents the surface from absorbing water in the tile adhesive, which will prevent the tile adhesive from sag and achieve its maximum strength.
Biza Plus Sahand Shimi primer is applied as a thin layer with a brush or roller to the surface and will be ready to apply the adhesive after drying for a while.
For plaster surfaces and surfaces with high absorption, it is mandatory to use a construction primer before applying tile adhesive.
How to apply Biza Plus tile adhesive
In the standard method of tiling with tile adhesive, you must first apply the tile adhesive in parallel grooves and in one direction on the desired surface using a notched trowel.
Then apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the tile or ceramic and install the tile on the surface within a maximum of 20 minutes. For better results, it is recommended to use a layer of Biza Plus Sahand Shimi construction primer on the desired surface before applying the tile adhesive.
Application temperature and working time
The best application temperature for this product is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time of the adhesive will be longer.
The period of use of powdered tile adhesive after mixing with water (working time) depends on various factors such as ambient temperature and the volume of the prepared adhesive. In general, to achieve the best performance of this product, we recommend that you prepare only the quantities required for tiling for a maximum of 1 hour and then proceed to make a new adhesive.
Setting Time
The initial setting time of this product under standard conditions (temperature 25 degrees Celsius) is 24 hours and the tile adhesive reaches its maximum strength after 28 days. This time depends on various factors such as temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness and application conditions and may be shorter or longer.
Expiration Date and Storage Conditions
This product can be used for up to one year if stored in its packaging in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
