Sahand Chemical Normal Plus tile adhesive is used for various materials with water absorption capacity such as mosaic, tiles, ceramics, bricks and natural stones on the floors and walls of rooms, halls, toilets, lobbies.

Tile Adhesive vs. Sand Cement Mortar

Tile adhesive is actually an engineered sand cement mortar. What is done in traditional methods is to make a mortar from a mixture of sand, cement, gravel, etc. manually.

The efficiency of this method depends heavily on the accuracy, experience and performance of the workers and the possibility of quality drop of the mortar with changes in the ratios of its materials will be very high.

But in Sahand Chemical Normal Plus tile adhesive, with engineered formulation, the materials are pre-mixed with accurate and tested ratios and have been improved with polymer additives.

These precisely adjusted ratios of cement, minerals and polymers result in a flexible adhesive with high adhesion strength and standard workability and setting time. This combination offers properties that are far superior to sand cement mortar, while also providing significant ease and speed of execution. In addition, due to the very low thickness of the tile adhesive compared to sand cement mortar, the width of the structural walls is reduced and as a result, more interior space is available. This feature also leads to a reduction in the weight of the structure and thus saves on construction costs. Using this adhesive not only helps to improve the performance of the structure, but also makes the installation process faster and therefore more economical.

In addition to the high adhesion strength that it provides for connecting ceramics and surfaces, the polymer additives in the formulation of Sahand Chemical Normal Plus tile adhesive have made this cement-based compound flexible.

Due to this feature, the ceramics installed with this cement-based powder adhesive will have acceptable resistance to structural stresses and building settlements. In addition, the presence of these polymer additives increases the moisture resistance of the tile adhesive.

Using Normal Plus Tile Adhesive in Outdoor Spaces

For tiling in outdoor spaces, it is recommended to combine this product with Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) instead of one third of the water consumed.

For example, to use this product for installing tiles in outdoor spaces, for every three 20 kg bags of Sahand Chemical Normal Plus tile adhesive (a total of 60 kg), a 5 liter gallon of Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) should be used along with 10 liters of water to prepare the tile adhesive. The 5 liters of mortar reinforcement resin (latex) used in the compound will replace part of the water used in the adhesive.

Calculating the Required Amount of Normal Plus Tile Adhesive

The consumption volume of this product depends heavily on the surface on which the tiling is done. For smooth cement surfaces, each 20 kg bag of Sahand Chemical Super Standard tile adhesive usually covers an area of about 3 to 5 square meters.

How to Prepare Normal Plus Tile Adhesive

Mix each 20 kg bag of this product with about 5 liters of water using an electric mixer (4 to 1 weight ratio). To do this, slowly add the powder to the water while stirring and continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained.

Then let the mortar rest for 5 minutes and then mix it again a little. Now your tile adhesive is ready to use.

Surface Conditions

It is strongly recommended that the back of the tile and the surface on which Normal Plus tile adhesive is applied be free of any contamination, dust, paint and grease. The presence of any contamination on the work surface or the back of the tile will prevent proper adhesion of the adhesive and the surface and will eventually lead to loosening and separation of the tiles from the surface.

Using Primer

The best method of surface preparation before applying tile adhesive is to cover it with a layer of Sahand Chemical construction primer.

According to tests, the resistance of tile adhesive when applied with primer is approximately twice that when tile adhesive is applied directly to the surface without primer.

Using primer significantly increases the adhesion between surfaces and prevents the absorption of water in the tile adhesive by the surface, which will prevent the tile adhesive from becoming porous and reach its maximum strength.

Sahand Chemical construction primer is applied as a thin layer with a brush or roller on the surface and after a little drying, it is ready for adhesive application.

For gypsum surfaces and surfaces with high absorption, the use of construction primer before applying tile adhesive is mandatory.

How to Apply Normal Plus Tile Adhesive

In the standard method of tiling with tile adhesive, you must first apply the tile adhesive to the desired surface with a notched trowel in the form of parallel grooves in one direction.

Then apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back surface of the tile or ceramic and install the tile on the adhesive surface within a maximum of 20 minutes. For better results, it is recommended to use a layer of Sahand Chemical construction primer on the desired surface before applying tile adhesive.

Operating Temperature and Workability Time

The best operating temperature for this product is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time of the adhesive will be longer.

The shelf life of powder tile adhesive after mixing with water (workability time) depends on various factors such as ambient temperature and the volume of prepared adhesive. In general, to create the best performance of this product, we suggest preparing only the amounts needed for tiling up to a maximum of 1 hour and then proceed to make new adhesive.

Setting Time

The initial setting time of Normal Plus tile adhesive under standard conditions (25 degrees Celsius) is 24 hours and the tile adhesive reaches its maximum strength after 28 days. This time depends on various factors such as temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness and execution conditions and may be shorter or longer.

Expiration Date and Storage Conditions

This product can be used for up to one year if stored in its packaging and in a dry place away from moisture.
