Sahand Chemical construction primer is used to prepare various surfaces of gypsum, cement, concrete, ACC blocks before waterproofing or tiling operations.

This product, with a single-stage application, improves the adhesion of cement-based compounds such as tile adhesive, waterproofing materials or sand cement mortar to the substrate. It also reduces the consumption of consumables and water absorption by covering the capillary pores of the surface.

Is the Use of Primer Necessary?

For some surfaces that have high water absorption (such as gypsum walls), the use of primer is mandatory. Surfaces with high water absorption absorb the water in the composition of tile adhesive, waterproofing materials or sand cement mortar and make it porous and brittle.

But the presence of a primer layer prevents water from leaving the compound and being absorbed by the surface and gives the tile adhesive (or waterproofing materials) the opportunity to reach its final strength.

Since Sahand Chemical construction primer is a strong underlay and excellent binder, it creates a strong bond between the surface and the cement compound and significantly increases its adhesion and strength.

Applications of Sahand Chemical Primer

Primer applications include the following:

• Preparation of gypsum surfaces for tiling and waterproofing.
• Increasing the adhesion of concrete surfaces for the implementation of waterproofing materials.
• Reducing water absorption of gypsum and cement surfaces.
• Preparation of gypsum surfaces for wallpaper implementation.

Calculating the Required Amount of Primer

Due to the different absorption of different surfaces, including gypsum and cement surfaces, the consumption volume of primer will also be different. But on average, each 5-liter gallon of Sahand Chemical primer is sufficient to cover 20 square meters.

Substrate Surface Conditions

Before applying the construction primer, clean the surface from any dust, paint, oil, corrosion, cracks and peeling, and then apply Sahand Chemical primer to the surface using a brush, roller or spray gun.

Operating Temperature and Workability Time

The best operating temperature for Sahand Chemical primer is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Expiration Date and Storage Conditions

Sahand Chemical construction primer can be used for up to one year if stored in its packaging and away from direct sunlight and freezing cycle.

Note 1: Sahand Chemical primer product acts as an excellent underlay to reduce water and moisture permeability and to increase substrate adhesion, but it should be noted that this product does not have a waterproofing application and should not be used as a moisture and water barrier.

Note 2: Sahand Chemical primer shows the best performance in reducing the permeability of the substrate to water and moisture and also increasing the adhesion of the surface to the new layer. However, it should be noted that this product will never replace Sahand Chemical moisture barrier or two-component waterproofing.
