Introducing Sahand Chemical Pool Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive is used to install all tiles and ceramics on the floors and walls of swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzis, ponds, fountains, water storage tanks, etc. This product has easy preparation, fast execution, excellent adhesion and high durability.
Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive has the Iranian National Standard license. This adhesive is specially made for use in humid environments and has the ability to install all kinds of ordinary, glass and pool tiles, mosaics and ceramics. By using this product, it is possible to tile on all vertical and horizontal surfaces of floors and walls, including concrete, cement and surfaces covered with two-component waterproofing.
Waterproof Property of Pool Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive is a powerful and completely moisture-resistant cement-based adhesive, and tiles installed with this adhesive have high adhesion, strength and lifespan in constant contact with water.
By using this product, which is a mortar modified with waterproof polymer materials, the tiles adhere well to the walls, floor and even the ceiling of the pool, and water penetration has no effect on the durability of the installed tiles.
Applications of Pool Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive is a good option for the following applications:
- Installation of all kinds of ordinary, glass and pool tiles and ceramics.
- Installation of all kinds of tiles and ceramics in environments with thermal and humidity shocks (such as saunas and jacuzzis).
- Installation of all kinds of tiles in environments in constant contact with water (such as pools, ponds, fountains, etc.).
This product has high preparation and execution speed and saves a lot of money and tile work time.
In addition to creating high adhesion strength for connecting tiles and surfaces, the polymer additives in the formulation of this type of adhesive have high resistance to water and moisture, which also allows it to be used in humid environments such as bathrooms and toilets. This enhanced feature in this product leads to an increase in the lifespan of tiles installed in conditions of permanent humidity.
Using Pool Tile Adhesive in Outdoor and Indoor Pools
Powder pool tile adhesive is used for tiling indoor pools and in indoor environments, usually and in combination with water. But for outdoor pools, it is better to use Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) instead of one third of the water consumed to mix with the powder adhesive.
Adding this polymer resin to the combination of pool tile adhesive greatly increases its adhesion, flexibility, water resistance and ability to withstand various weather conditions and will have a significant effect on the performance and lifespan of the installed tiles.
The flexibility of this adhesive, especially in the cold seasons of the year and the freezing of water remaining in the pool, is very necessary and necessary, which happens with the combination of mortar reinforcement resin.
Using Pool Tile Adhesive in Sauna and Jacuzzi
The walls and floors of saunas and jacuzzis are intermittently exposed to thermal shocks and frequent temperature changes. Therefore, the combination of pool tile adhesive with water alone is not sufficient for installing tiles and ceramics in such environments.
In these environments, it is necessary to use Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) instead of part of the water consumed to mix with the powder adhesive. Adding this polymer resin to the combination of pool tile adhesive greatly increases its adhesion, flexibility and water resistance and prevents the separation of installed tiles due to thermal stresses.

Tiling on Two-Component Waterproofing Using Pool Tile Adhesive
If you have used Sahand Chemical two-component waterproofing to waterproof your pool, you can install your tiles and ceramics directly on it using Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive.
As mentioned, for tiling in outdoor pools, saunas or jacuzzis, it is better to use Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) instead of part of the water consumed to mix with the powder adhesive.
Calculating the Required Amount of Pool Tile Adhesive
The consumption volume of this product depends heavily on the type of surface on which the tiling is done; for smooth, plumb and level cement surfaces, the consumption rate of adhesive will be lower. Each 20 kg bag of Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive usually covers an area between 3 and 7 square meters.
Any unevenness, unplumbness, protrusion or depression in the underlying surface, as well as the use of a trowel with large teeth, will increase the consumption rate of pool tile adhesive per square meter. To calculate your required amount of this product, you can use the calculator on this page or the calculator page.
How to Prepare Pool Tile Adhesive
Mix each 20 kg bag of Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive with about 5 to 6 liters of water using an electric mixer at low speed (4 to 1 weight ratio). To do this, slowly add the powder to the water and mix with an electric mixer at low speed. Continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained.
Then let the mortar rest for 5 minutes and then mix it again a little. Now your tile adhesive is ready to use.
Substrate Surface Conditions
It is strongly recommended that the back of the tile and the surface on which this product is applied be clean and free of any contamination, dust, paint and grease. The presence of contamination on the surface can prevent the tile adhesive from adhering to it and cause the tiles to loosen or separate from the surface.
Using Primer
The best method of surface preparation before applying tile adhesive is to cover it with a layer of Sahand Chemical construction primer. According to measurements, the resistance of tile adhesive when applied with primer is approximately twice that when tile adhesive is applied directly to the surface without primer.
Using primer significantly increases the adhesion of the surface and prevents the absorption of water in the tile adhesive by the surface, which will prevent the tile adhesive from becoming porous and reach its maximum strength.
Sahand Chemical construction primer is applied as a thin layer with a brush or roller on the surface and after drying, it is ready for adhesive application. For surfaces with high water absorption, the use of construction primer before applying tile adhesive is mandatory.
How to Apply Pool Tile Adhesive
In the standard method of tiling with tile adhesive, you must first apply the tile adhesive to the desired surface with a notched trowel in the form of parallel grooves in one direction. Then apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back surface of the tile or ceramic and install the tile on the surface within a maximum of 20 minutes.
For better results, it is recommended to use a layer of Sahand Chemical construction primer on the desired surface before applying tile adhesive.
Operating Temperature and Workability Time
The best operating temperature for this product is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time of the adhesive will be longer.
The shelf life of powder tile adhesive after mixing with water (workability time) depends on various factors such as ambient temperature and the volume of prepared adhesive. In general, to create the best performance of this product, we suggest preparing only the amounts needed for tiling up to a maximum of 1 hour and then proceed to make new adhesive.
Setting Time
The initial setting time of this product under standard conditions (at 25 degrees Celsius) is 24 hours and the tile adhesive reaches its maximum strength after 28 days. However, this time depends on various factors such as temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness and execution conditions and may be shorter or longer.
Expiration Date and Storage Conditions
This product can be used for up to one year if stored in its packaging in a dry place away from moisture.
Note: Sahand Chemical pool tile adhesive has high resistance to water and moisture, but this product does not act as a moisture barrier and cannot be used as a waterproofing material. Therefore, replacing it with moisture barriers is by no means recommended.
