In traditional methods of installing large-format stone and ceramic slabs, due to the high weight and size of these slabs, techniques such as scoping and mortar application are used. These methods face challenges such as the possibility of slabs becoming loose or detaching from the substrate. These problems are usually caused by uneven mortar distribution, poor connection quality, or execution defects, which can lead to reduced stability and installation lifespan. This highlights the need for greater accuracy and the use of more modern techniques.
Also, being time-consuming, thickening of walls, reducing the interior space of the building, and increasing the weight of the structure are also disadvantages of this method. By using this product, it is possible to install ceramic and stone slabs easily and without the need for scoping.
Applications of Two-Component Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive, due to its very powerful properties, is used for a wide range of applications, including:
- Installation of various large-format ceramic and stone slabs (without the need for scoping or metal retainers)
- Installation of various facade stones
- Installation of various tiles and ceramics in outdoor spaces (such as courtyards, terraces, roof gardens, etc.)
- Installation of various ceramics on underfloor heating and cooling systems
- Installation of various floor ceramics in high-traffic areas (such as parking lots, office and commercial complexes, cinemas, etc.)
- Tile-on-tile installation (without the need to roughen the surface of old tiles)
This product has high preparation and execution speed and saves a lot of time and money in tiling.
The acrylic-based polymer component in this type of tile adhesive, in addition to the very high adhesion strength it provides for connecting ceramic and surface, makes this two-component cement-based compound flexible, and due to this feature, the ceramics installed with this adhesive can withstand show unique tolerance and high flexibility against structural stresses and building settlements.
In addition, the presence of this polymer resin component has made it possible to use this product in outdoor spaces, underfloor heating and cooling systems, and high-traffic areas.
Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive is Sahand Chemical ‘s strongest tile adhesive, but if your tiling is done indoors, or there is not much load on the ceramics, or you do not have an environment with severe temperature changes such as underfloor heating and cooling, using Sahand Chemical ‘s porcelain tile adhesive is a more economical suggestion and at the same time it will meet your needs alone.
This product has been used in various projects throughout the country with the approval of professional craftsmen and builders.
Installation of Stone and Ceramic Slabs with Two-Component Tile Adhesive
Usually, the weight of stone slabs is more than that of ceramic slabs, but Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive has the ability to adhere both types of slabs well. For the installation of stone slabs, it is necessary to grind parts of the mesh behind the stone with a grinding wheel.
Installation of Ceramics in High-Traffic Areas with High Traffic Load
In high-traffic areas such as parking lots and corridors of large commercial and office complexes, due to very high traffic, significant stress is applied to the floor ceramics and their adhesive. These stresses eventually lead to cracking or detaching of the ceramics from the floor.
Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive, thanks to the special polymer materials in its composition, is completely flexible and has the ability to withstand high stress and vibration. Therefore, this product is a very suitable option for installing floor ceramics in parking lots, lobbies and corridors of office and commercial complexes, cinemas and high traffic areas.
Installation of Ceramics on Underfloor Heating Systems
Stresses and temperature differences applied to tile adhesive and ceramics on floors equipped with heating systems lead to damage to the adhesive and separation of ceramics from the surface. To prevent this from happening, two-component tile adhesive, which is a flexible adhesive with high adhesion, will be a smart choice.
Due to its polymer compounds, this product has the ability to withstand stresses and different temperature ranges, which greatly increases the life of installed ceramics.
Use of Two-Component Tile Adhesive in Open Spaces
If tiling is done in the open air, Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component adhesive will be the best option. Ceramics installed in the exterior of the building, such as courtyards, terraces, roof gardens, etc., are always exposed to various weather conditions. This product has high adhesion strength and can withstand temperature stresses and harsh weather conditions well.
Tile-on-Tile Installation with Two-Component Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive is a suitable option for installing new tiles on old tiles. One of the important features of this adhesive is its very high adhesion strength and the lack of need to demolish old tiles. However, it is recommended to roughen the surface of the old tile with a grinding wheel or chisel before tiling to increase the adhesion between the old and new tiles.
Installation of Facade Stone with Two-Component Tile Adhesive
Falling facade stones, which are usually caused by building settlement and structural stresses, is a common problem in the construction industry. Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive, with its high adhesion strength and unique flexibility, absorbs the stresses applied from the structure to the facade stone and effectively prevents the facade stone from falling and detaching.
Calculating the Amount of Two-Component Tile Adhesive Required
The consumption volume of Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive depends a lot on the surface on which the tiling is done. For smooth cement surfaces, each pack, including a 20 kg bag of tile adhesive and a 5-liter gallon of polymer resin, usually covers an area of 3 to 5 square meters.
Any unevenness, plumbness, protrusions or depressions in the substrate will increase the consumption of two-component tile adhesive per square meter. To calculate the amount of two-component tile adhesive you need, you can use the calculator on this page or the calculator page.
How to Prepare Two-Component Tile Adhesive
Mix each 20 kg bag of Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component adhesive powder component with 5 liters of the polymer resin component using an electric mixer at low speed (4 to 1 weight ratio).
To do this, while stirring, slowly add the powder to the polymer resin and continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained.
Let the mortar rest for 5 minutes and then mix a little again. Now your tile adhesive is ready to use.
Note that in the preparation of this product, only the powder component is mixed with the resin component and no water or other substance is added to this combination.
Substrate Conditions
It is strongly recommended that the back of the tile and the surface on which the two-component tile adhesive is applied be free of any contamination, dust, paint and grease. The presence of any contamination on the work surface or the back of the tile will prevent proper adhesion of the adhesive and the surface and will eventually lead to loosening and separation of the tiles from the surface.
Use of Primer
The best method of preparing the surface before applying tile adhesive is to cover it with a layer of Sahand Chemical construction primer. According to tests, the adhesion strength of tile adhesive when applied with primer is about twice as high as when tile adhesive is applied directly to the surface without primer.
The use of primer significantly increases the adhesion between surfaces and prevents the surface from absorbing the water in the tile adhesive, which prevents the tile adhesive from becoming porous and reaching its maximum strength.
Sahand Chemical building primer is applied as a thin layer with a brush or roller on the surface and after a little drying, it will be ready to apply the adhesive.
For gypsum surfaces and high absorption surfaces, it is mandatory to use building primer before applying tile adhesive.
How to Apply Two-Component Tile Adhesive
In the standard method of tiling with tile adhesive, first you must apply the tile adhesive to the desired surface using a notched trowel in parallel grooves and in one direction. Then apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back surface of the tile or ceramic and install the tile on the surface within a maximum of 20 minutes.
For best results, it is recommended to use a layer of Sahand Chemical building primer on the desired surface before applying tile adhesive.
Operating Temperature and Workability Time
The best operating temperature for this product is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time of the adhesive will be longer.
The usable time of powder tile adhesive after mixing with water (workability time) depends on various factors such as ambient temperature and volume of prepared adhesive. In general, to create the best performance of two-component tile adhesive, we suggest preparing only the amounts needed for tiling up to a maximum of 1 hour and then making new adhesive.
Note that this product, due to its very high adhesion strength, which is due to the presence of the resin component in its composition, has a shorter drying time than other adhesives.
Setting Time
The initial setting time of this product under standard conditions (25 degrees Celsius) is 24 hours and the tile adhesive reaches its maximum strength after 28 days. This period of time depends a lot on various factors such as temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness and execution conditions and may be more or less.
Expiration Date and Storage Conditions
Sahand Chemical ‘s two-component tile adhesive will be usable for up to one year if stored in its packaging and in a dry place away from moisture, sunlight and freezing cycles.
