Application of tile crosses

The advantages of using Sahand Chemical tile crosses include the following:

  • Creating joints with the desired and uniform width between tiles
  • Reducing tiling time
  • Preventing tile movement before the mortar dries
  • Increasing accuracy and safety factor in tiling

Calculating the number of tile crosses

The number of crosses required for tiling depends on the dimensions of the tiles and ceramics and the total area. The minimum number of crosses required is equal to the number of joints between the tiles, and for larger tiles, more crosses are used.

How to use tile crosses

  • First, tile adhesive or mortar is applied to the surface using a notched trowel.
  • The tile is placed on the surface and the clips are installed on the edges of the tile.
  • Then the next tile is installed adjacent to the first tile, and by slightly moving the second tile, the crosses are placed between the two tiles and at the point where 4 tiles meet (which is called a four-joint) to create a uniform and desired distance between the joints.
  • Then the wedge is placed in the clip manually and tightened with pliers with maximum pressure to level the tile surface.
  • After the mortar or adhesive has set, the clips are broken using a rubber hammer or by kicking and the wedges are released.
  • The crosses inside the joints are removed after this step.
  • If it is not possible to remove the crosses at the four-joint points, it is necessary to push them in so that there is enough space to apply grout paste between the tiles.
