Introducing Sahand Chemical Biza Plus Tile Adhesive
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive is used to install all porcelain tiles and ceramics on the floors and walls of rooms, halls, bathrooms, lobbies and corridors. This product is easy to prepare, quick to apply, has strong adhesion and high durability, and is recommended for installing ceramics up to 60 x 120 cm.
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive has the Iranian National Standard license and quality approval from the Research Center of the Ministry of Roads, Housing and Urban Development. With its powerful formulation, this product has the ability to install all kinds of tiles, mosaics and ordinary, glass and porcelain ceramics and enables tiling on all internal vertical and horizontal surfaces of floors and walls on all kinds of concrete, cement and gypsum surfaces.
What is porcelain ceramic?
Porcelain is a type of ceramic that absorbs very little water (less than 0.5%). Since grout or cement sand mortar needs to penetrate the ceramic texture to create adhesion, it will not be very efficient against porcelain ceramic and practically no strong connection will be established between them.
On the other hand, porcelain ceramic has a more compact structure than ordinary ceramic, which increases its weight. These two factors (low water absorption and high weight) make it necessary to use more powerful materials such as Biza Plus tile adhesive instead of grout or cement sand mortar to install porcelain tiles.
Tile adhesive versus cement sand mortar
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive is actually an engineered cement-based mortar. What is done in traditional methods is to make a mortar from a mixture of sand, cement, gravel, etc. manually. The efficiency of this method depends heavily on the accuracy, experience and performance of workers, and the possibility of mortar quality degradation by changing the material ratios will be very high.
But in this product, the materials are pre-mixed with accurate and tested ratios and have gained better properties with polymer additives. These correct ratios of cement and mineral and polymer materials have produced a flexible adhesive with high adhesion and standard setting time, which has properties far superior to cement sand mortar and much easier and faster execution.
In addition, due to the very low thickness of tile adhesive compared to cement sand mortar, the thickness of the structure walls is reduced and consequently, more interior space is available and finally the weight of the structure will be less.
Applications of Biza Plus tile adhesive
In some cases, it is not possible to use cement sand mortar to install tiles and ceramics, and in these cases, Biza Plus tile adhesive is used for tiling:
- Installation of porcelain ceramics
- Installation of tiles on tiles
- Installation of tiles on surfaces that do not absorb water (such as Sahand Chemical two-component waterproofing, which can only be tiled with polymer-modified tile adhesive)
Biza Plus tile adhesive powder compound is ready and can be used only by adding the right amount of water. For this reason, it has a high preparation and execution speed and saves a lot of tiling costs and time.
The polymer additives in the formulation of this product, in addition to the high adhesion strength that creates a connection between the ceramic and the surface, make this cement-based compound flexible. Due to this feature, ceramics installed with this cement-based powder adhesive will have very good resistance to structural stresses and building settlements.
Also, due to the polymer additives in the composition of this adhesive, it has good resistance to moisture penetration, which makes it possible to use it in humid environments such as bathrooms and toilets.
Biza Plus tile adhesive for non-porcelain (ordinary) tiles
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive is used to install all kinds of tiles and ceramics.
To date, the quality and power of this product has been confirmed by many professional tilers and builders and contractors and is being used in their various projects throughout the country.
Using Biza Plus tile adhesive outdoors
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive is a powerful adhesive that has an acceptable performance in outdoor environments with different weather conditions, but in general, it is recommended to use this adhesive for indoor spaces.
If you intend to use Biza Plus tile adhesive outdoors, we recommend using Sahand Chemical Biza Plus latex instead of one third of the water that is used in combination with Biza Plus powder tile adhesive. For example, for outdoor use, for every 3 bags of 20 kg Biza Plus tile adhesive (a total of 60 kg), combine a 5 kg gallon of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus latex with 10 liters of water and use it to prepare tile adhesive.
Installation of large size ceramics (slabs) with Biza Plus tile adhesive
The adhesion and strength of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive, especially when applied to building primer, is sufficient to install many large size slabs.
Installation of tiles on tiles with Biza Plus tile adhesive
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive is an ideal option for installing new tiles on old tiles without the need to demolish them. However, for the best product result, it is necessary to first roughen the surface of the old tiles with a chisel or milling machine and then install the new tiles on them with Biza Plus tile adhesive.
Calculating the required amount of Biza Plus tile adhesive
The consumption volume of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus tile adhesive depends heavily on the surface on which tiling is done. For smooth cement surfaces, each 20 kg bag of this product is sufficient for tiling an area of about 3 to 5 square meters.
Any unevenness, non-verticality, protrusions or depressions in the substrate will increase the consumption rate of Biza Plus tile adhesive per square meter. To calculate the amount of Biza Plus tile adhesive you need, you can use the calculator on this page or the calculator page.
How to prepare Biza Plus tile adhesive
Mix each 20 kg bag of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus adhesive with about 5 liters of water using an electric mixer (4 to 1 weight ratio). To do this, slowly add the powder to the water while stirring and continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained. Then let the mortar rest for 5 minutes and then mix it again a little. Now your tile adhesive is ready to use.
Substrate conditions
It is strongly recommended that the back of the tile and the surface on which Biza Plus tile adhesive is applied be as free as possible from any contamination, dust, paint and grease. The presence of contamination on the surface prevents the tile adhesive from sticking and the tiles from loosening and separating from the surface.
Use of primer
The best method of preparing the surface before applying tile adhesive is to cover it with a layer of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus primer. According to measurements, the resistance of tile adhesive when applied with primer is about 2 times when tile adhesive is applied directly to the surface without primer.
The use of primer significantly increases the adhesion between surfaces and prevents the absorption of water in the tile adhesive by the surface, which prevents the tile adhesive from becoming porous and reaching its maximum strength.
Sahand Chemical Biza Plus primer is applied to the surface as a thin layer with a brush or roller and after a little drying, it will be ready to apply the adhesive.
For gypsum surfaces and surfaces with high absorption, it is mandatory to use building primer before applying tile adhesive.
How to apply Biza Plus tile adhesive
In the standard method of tiling with tile adhesive, you must first apply the tile adhesive on the desired surface in parallel grooves and in one direction using a notched trowel.
Then apply a thin layer of adhesive on the back surface of the tile or ceramic and install the tile on the surface within 20 minutes. For better results, it is recommended to use a layer of Sahand Chemical Biza Plus building primer on the desired surface before applying tile adhesive.
Operating temperature and workability time
The best operating temperature for this product is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the drying time of the adhesive will be longer.
The time limit for using powder tile adhesive after mixing with water (workability time) depends on various factors such as ambient temperature and the volume of prepared adhesive. In general, to create the best performance of this product, we suggest that you prepare only the amounts needed for tiling up to 1 hour and then proceed to make new adhesive.
Setting time
The initial setting time of this product under standard conditions (25 degrees Celsius) is 24 hours and the tile adhesive reaches its maximum strength after 28 days. This time depends on various factors such as temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness and execution conditions and may be shorter or longer.
Expiration date and storage conditions
This product can be used for up to one year if stored in its packaging and in a dry place away from direct light and moisture.
